Happy new year! It's time to cut the apron strings on some of our songs and let them loose. So to celebrate, we have released a playful instrumental album as well as a single.
Or treat someone you adore this holiday season with some sweet new Dionvox gear.
Since opening the store online, we have continued to add new products. So Swing by and scope them out. Today we added a line of Butterly Broaches which you can see a picture of down below. Admittedly, the store is more fun to peruse on a computer screen... Still working on the mobile design :) But we have a whole host of products, so there's sure to be a little something for everyone.
To celebrate the equinox, and all of the work we have done to put this together, we are finally opening our first online store for merchandise! Unless it's a CD, I hand painted or upcycle-made everything. Check it out!
Touring for the earlier part of the summer throughout the PNW was a blast! Lots of collaboration, festivals, shows, and general celebration.
Since returning to HQ in Vegas, we are deep in the studio finishing things.
Meanwhile, we also have some exciting new collabs coming up, including a single that is about to be released by Jamaica Black Life Productions. I can't wait to shoot the video for that one! :D
WOW!
These last three months have been FULL. Thanks to the Indiegogo campaign, and some elbow grease on my part, we now have 2 fully functional recording studios here in Vegas. As well as ALL OF OUR GEAR so we can play live shows again! (It was previously in storage in Seattle...)
Speaking of live shows, our summer schedule is starting to come together, and one of the first shows of the season is going to be Genesis Arts and Music festival in Oregon.
And since we love collaboration so much, I managed to do some recording while I was in Seattle. Here's one song from those sessions :)
Last but certainly not least, I teased a bit in the last post about a sponsorship we received. BEM Wireless is AMAZING. I feel silly, but I am in wireless music-nerd heaven!!! I'm still discovering and playing with all the fun stuff they've sent. But I'll be posting regurlarly :D
This little speaker is now my new car stereo.
Anywho, I've still got some catching up to do now that I'm FINALLY back in Vegas. But I'll be finishing albums, booking shows, and posting again soon.
Well, I feel like this sums things up nicely. I am so happy, and so incredibly grateful for all the wonderful people and wild adventures of last year. I've made so many new friends, and appreciate the friends who have known me for years. We moved to a new state. Dionvox and creativity are now my sole responsibility. New website. New album sooooo close to being finished (and then there are several more on third base right now). Two new studios.
I'm not going to lie, last year faced me with some of the hardest challenges I have ever encountered. But our motto is NO FEAR AND NO REGRET. So I wouldn't take a moment back, since it has landed me here.
The Sanctuary Indiegogo campaign filled me over the brim with gratitude! We raised enough money to get an external hard drive, an audio interface, and I think we can even squeak some studio monitors in there! :) So I am well on my way to having a fully functioning studio. WEEEEEEE!
I'll be going up to Seattle this week. Not only will it be fun to celebrate my birthday surrounded by friends and family, but it will be delightful to rescue our gear and instruments from storage. After this, the colossal interstate move will be complete! And more importantly, I can play bass and keys to my hearts content.
Thank you to anyone that might be reading this, and thanks to anyone that isn't. That's where I'm at, and I'm happy about it.
I had the lovely gift of waking up on Christmas eve to the news that the film El Gallo De Oro won best documentary in the Americas Rainbow Film Festival hosted by HBO in New York! This was one of the first films we did the soundtrack for, and it's so exciting to see it blossom out in the real world. :)
As you can see, it has done quite well in several festivals already! So cool to be a part of a creative team adding to the collection of art in the world.
In other news, we still have the Indiegogo Campaign rolling. We have enough money to get an external hard drive. Next on the list is an interface, so I can record. We'll just keep putting one foot in front of the other, and see where it leads us. It's bound to be a fascinating destination!
Sending much love and a happy holiday to everyone!
Over and Out-
Hey, there's no way to get whatcha want without asking :) So I'm asking for support so that we can finish what we started (which is SO SO much). With that, below is our campaign. Please lend your sugar in any way you can, including sharing with other interested parties. <3
Adding to the wonderful world of Dionvox is our second studio: Sanctuary Studio. It's still a work in progress, but it's coming along nicely, and it feels just like it is named. So I am in heaven right now.
It's in the Arts District right in the thick of Las Vegas. I get to hear/see people screaming and jumping off the top of the Stratosphere (bungee jumping...) whenever I go out for some fresh air. Which somehow feels hilariously exotic. And it looks MUCH closer in person...
So Scobra and I are having a nearly mind-blowing-awesome time settling in and getting to work. So many great projects going on right now. Another soundtrack gig just came in today. A REALLY BIG and COOL one. We also have a sweet little sponsorship coming up with an exciting company. But they will get their own post soon. I don't wanna spill the beans until everything is nice and ready.
Per usual, I could make several more veiled and hyped sentences. But I'll let this new flower unfurl in it's own time <3
I am in the process of mastering my most "uncharacteristic" Dionvox album, MOMO. It's basically a big EDM set. I had way too much fun making it, and can't wait to unleash it. I thought in the spirit of holiday sharing, I would let a little pre-master out of the bag as a teaser. So here it is.
First and fancy-foremost: I made a new website, which you should tell me is really great {or if it isn't, you should probably tell me that too, so I can make it better}.
Other than that, we went on a little Los Angeles adventure over the weekend. I had a delightful time going to a bunch of my favorite haunts. Franklin Village, Los Feliz, Downtown, et cetera. Here are a few pics, including my brothers band Los Pepiniyos who are on tour from Puerto Rico. :)
Next time you're downtown, and near the Greyhound station, you should buys some cool stuff at Descontrol
I had some fun in the pit for the first time in a long time...
I had a mellow evening hanging out with the band and working on a 3-D puzzle :)
This is one of my favorite late night spots for quick and cheap food.
Still working on fancy finishing touches on the website, and am now MASTERING our next album to be released. Stay tuned...
Per usual, my life seems to dance in constant flux at an upbeat tempo. So much so that I didn't post anything on here for a while because I hardly knew what to say. Things seem to change a mile a minute, and I didn't want to make any statements that might change within a day... Or even an hour.
But I have finally landed in Las Vegas, to a very creative and warm welcoming party. I'm loving the intensity of this city. It is completely different than anywhere else I have lived. And I am enjoying getting to know it.
However, my ULTIMATE FAVORITE thing about being here is that I now have undivided attention. As a result, all of the delicious things I have spent the last several years creating, are now moving out into the world. I am incredibly close to launching our new website. And I've had the pleasure of working on a few soundtracks over the last 6 months, which I have just released for free download!
This morning I took a walk and sat on a rather special bench. Over a year ago, my friend and I sat there and decided to go out to a sacred valley in Hawaii. To live. For as long as we needed to. That experience reminded me of who I really am. Happy and free. I guess it can be easy to forget when a bunch of detritus is swirling around in your grown-up-responsible-life. So I remembered. One year ago today, I was out in this valley. Here's where I lived, at about 6:30 am.
I only mention all of this as a prelude to my big news :) This valley adventure reminded me that if I'm open to it, the universe will give me exactly what I need when I need it. Sometimes medicine tastes a little bitter, but it's good medicine regardless of flavor.
Today, in this moment, is a perfect example. Dionvox is no longer working with Noize TV. We have our own studio now in Las Vegas. Scobra is practically glowing in awesome audio work and I (DVX) am practically glowing in inspiration. I don't want to let the cat out of the bag yet, as it's still growing fur. But we have some really exciting new projects and friends in the mix.
Being happy and FREE is really hard work. So we are having to extend the settling process a bit to ensure that we are solidly equipped for the onslaught of creativity that is about to ensue. But yeah ~ we got this. And I feel incredibly grateful for how everything turned out. I've often heard that the last 10% of any project feels like it takes 90% of the energy. Well I'm on the homestretch of this relocation, and per usual, the universe is giving me just what I REALLY NEED, and making me earn it.
I couldn't be happier, or possibly more sore and sleepy. But all things considered, I wouldn't have it any other way. This is the closest to perfection that I could ask for.
I can't wait to be done with it all and back in the saddle though! So many new songs, costumes, albums, videos, and ideas!!!!!!!!
<3 always,
-DVX
p.s. I just have to add how lucky I feel to have so many wonderful friends and people in my life. These last few weeks in Seattle have shown me a lotta love and kindness. I am one lucky girl indeed. Thanks Seattle, I will always have a special place in my heart for you - HOME.
Here are some of the cast and crew of Noize TV celebrating the completion of the new set!!! I just had to post this to celebrate with them. Scobra is representing over on the front left.
You can see Paul Zero putting the finishing touches below :D
I can't wait to get down to Vegas because...
NEWS FLASH ~ I will be joining the cast of Noize TV! <3
Well, it's official. Dionvox is moving to Las Vegas. In fact, Scobra is down there already working on music for Noize TV. If you haven't checked them out already, Dionvox has been making some lovely and strange sounds for them :)
I will be heading down as soon as I get everything packed up and closed out. But I will get to visit everyone at the big launch party at the end of the month when the show premiers! Now I just have to figure out what to wear...
Maybe one of these? Though it would be a shame to blend in with the crowd too much. ;)
\
I'm being ridiculous now. But in all fairness, I've been writing at least a song a day for a while now. I think I've nearly finished yet ANOTHER album. All beats and crazy DJ stuff :) It would be fun to play a second set where I can just dance and act totally crazy, as opposed to having to breathe and sing. Don't get me wrong, both breathing and singing are lovely. But who doesn't like a little variety?
My schedule has gone bonkers, so I'll end it here. Stay tuned for more updates!
What is better than a themed costume party? A Clockwork Carnival Steampunk Show!!!! And not only will I get to bask in everyone's lovely looking glory, but there are things to buy, contests to win, and music to dance to. Investigate the details HERE !
Oh, and if you don't have any fancy goggles or gear, fear not! You can get some there, OR be an undercover agent from the future that is trying to blend in with the civilians ;)
We had the best time playing the Carnival in Spokane, and we have so many awesome friends in Boise! So if you live within flying distance, put on your wings and shake a tail feather out toLiquid Lounge on Friday April 1st!
